February is Black History Month and Ms. Harvin-Peterson and her 4th-grade class are immersing themselves in the rich history and culture that makes this month so important. Each morning on the announcements, her students memorize and share quotes from great African American leaders in a segment called “A Moment in Black History.” In the classroom, they read biographies and answer comprehension questions to exhibit their ever-growing knowledge of the influential and brave men and women that shaped our past and present. Now, they are beginning a culminating activity where they create and design African American Postcards for second-grade students.

By acknowledging the productive contributions these African American figures have made to the face of the world, they are lighting a path for a better tomorrow!

Well done Ms.HP!
